Window Film Used in Museum Exhibit
St Louis, MIssouri
The Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum on the campus of Washington University is opening the Metabolic City exhibit on September 18, 2009. One of the exhibits is featuring video on a sheet of clear acrylic. The architectural students at Washington University in St. Louis involved with the exhibit had the challange of capturing the video on clear acrylic. After some research they decided to try some rear projection video window film installed on non gas emitting clear acrylic would give them the non evassive video screen they wanted for their exhibit. After the architectual students gave it the old "college try" of installing the rear projection window film on the clear acrylic , they called Solar Control Films for some assistance. First the students inquired about the availability of window tinting tools, accessories and supplies which Solar Control Films has a complete supply of window films and supplies. After talking with the professionals at Solar Control Films the students asked if we would install the rear projection window film on the acrylic. Solar Control Films warehouse and service center in St. Louis, Missouri (MO) was the perfect location for the installation. With all the good karma surrounding the exhibit, Stan Foster happened to be teaching a window tinting glass at Solar Controls Films Service Center in St. Louis MO when the students from Washington Univeristy School ot Architecture scheduled the installation. Stan along with Charles Johnson and Richard Hollocher installed the rear projection window film on the acrylic. The installation went great. Stan Foster who is a professional window film installer and instructor installed the film and taught the Washington University students some installation techiques along the way. Charles Johnson from Texarkana AR was Stan's student that week got some extra training. Charles really made Stan proud with all the assistance in the installation. Charles is tinting windows in Texarkana AR.
The Grand opening of Metabolic City at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum is tonight September 18, 2009 and the students just called and said the film looks great and invited all of us from Solar Control Films and our families to the Grand Opening. We will report back on how the film looks and performs. It was fun to be involved with this project at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum and educating the architectual students on window film. These students will help the future of architectal window films as their creative minds will find new needs and applications and Solar Control Films will be there to supply the different window tint, window film and window film tools.
